IFAS Highlights
CSIR NET Mathematical Science Previous Year Cut-Off
The CSIR NET Mathematical Science Previous Year Cut-Off helps candidates understand the category-wise qualifying trends for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Lectureship/Assistant Professor, and Ph.D. admission only. The cut-off is released separately for categories such as UR, EWS, OBC, SC, ST, and PwD and may vary across different examination sessions depending on factors such as paper difficulty, candidate performance, and competition.

By analysing previous year cut-offs, candidates can understand past qualifying trends and set realistic preparation targets for the upcoming CSIR NET Mathematical Science examination. Candidates should remember that previous year cut-offs are only reference points and do not guarantee the cut-off for a future session.

CSIR NET Mathematical Science Cut-Off: JRF vs Assistant Professor vs Ph.D.
The examination result provides different qualifying thresholds depending on the outcome:

  • JRF: Candidates qualifying under the JRF cut-off are considered for Junior Research Fellowship, subject to applicable eligibility and merit criteria.
  • Lectureship/Assistant Professor: Candidates meeting the relevant cut-off qualify for eligibility for Assistant Professor/Lectureship.
  • Ph.D. Only: Candidates meeting the applicable Category-3 cut-off qualify under the Ph.D.-only category, subject to the applicable admission rules.
Factors Affecting CSIR NET Mathematical Science Cut-Off 2026
The cut-off can vary from one examination session to another because of several factors, including:

  1. Difficulty level of the question paper
  2. Overall performance of candidates
  3. Number of candidates appearing for the examination
  4. Subject-wise competition
  5. Category-wise distribution of candidates
  6. Number of candidates qualifying for different categories
  7. Normalization or examination-specific result methodology, wherever applicable

Therefore, candidates should use previous-year cut-offs as a reference rather than treating them as a guaranteed score requirement for the next examination.
